The Association of Filipino Students in Hungary (AFSHu) participated in the Health Awareness Seminar and Basic Health Screening organized by the Philippine Embassy in Budapest, in coordination with its Labor Office, in celebration of National Women’s Month.
The event brought together Filipinos from across Hungary, including students, workers, and long-term residents, to discuss important topics related to health and wellness. Discussions focused on general healthcare awareness, workplace safety, women’s well-being, mental health, and access to healthcare services in Hungary.
Representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Semmelweis University and FirstMed shared valuable information on migration health, mental well-being, and navigating Hungary’s healthcare system.
Seeking help is normal, and mental health matters.
Speakers emphasized the importance of holistic well-being and encouraged Filipinos living abroad to make use of available healthcare resources and support systems.
Miguel Angelo Victor Ontog, AFSHu’s Vice President for Internal Affairs and a registered nurse, delivered a talk on navigating healthcare services in Hungary. He encouraged attendees to proactively seek medical assistance and become familiar with the healthcare options available to them.
In addition to the seminar, he also conducted free basic health screenings for participants during the event.
The event highlighted the importance of collaboration among organizations, healthcare providers, and the Filipino community in promoting health awareness and strengthening community ties among Filipinos living in Hungary.
